The Maytag Corporation is an American home and commercial appliance brand owned by Whirlpool Corporation after the April 2006 acquisition of Maytag.

User "Patricia" of the "ConsumerAffairs" website, gives a negative review of a Maytag Electronic Washer on July 22, 2020:

"Bought Maytag Electronic Washer and Dryer on Feb. 7th, 2020. On July 10th control board went out in the dryer. 3 weeks without a dryer and hanging clothes in 112-118 degree weather in Arizona. I am 77 years old and too old for this. Don't buy Maytag!. Had Whirlpool Washer and Dryer for 22 years. Never a problem, regret buying a Maytag."

"If Zero was an option, I would give you NO stars at all! We purchased a brand new dishwasher August 8th, 2020 at Lowe's in Sanford, FL. Switch my defective dishwasher!!! Yet another delay to wait for another replacement part on a BRAND NEW dishwasher we've owned for a couple of months !!! Noooooooo !!! This is no longer acceptable, It has been inoperable for the same amount of time we've owned! No No !!!
Now the dishwasher has a bad vent switch for the steam/humidity. F8/E4/E2. Error codes and I have to wait A G A I N for parts?!??! No!!! I better get the replacement unit this week, this is not acceptable. It is obvious we were sold a DEFECTIVE unit!!! We've been more than patient. It has been inoperable longer than we have owned it. We need a replacement unit or our money refunded - this is not acceptable!"

"I have to say I purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot. First Home Depot does not stand behind their products, and second my dryer has had issues neither Maytag nor Home Depot are doing anything. My dryer has some big issues and it is only 45 days since my purchase. The fly wheel inside the dryer is broken already. How they do not know nor why. I have asked that the dryer just be replaced from either place. Both are saying NO Home Depot says it’s a Maytag issue it’s under their warranty. I say it needs replaced because it’s only 45 days old. Customer service says not a problem. They take me back to appliances for a return and the Salesman I have says we can’t do that, “what do you think I’m going to do with the dryer if it’s returned” hmmmmmm send it back to Maytag I say. I explain that customer service says it can be returned. They get a Mgr., who says they can’t do anything call Maytag. I have spent 4 hours calling people trying to get this dryer exchanged Maytag says well ! We have to fix it first then if there is another issue they may return it then. I did not pay 800. for a dryer to have issues from the start. This is the most frustrating experience ever. Maytag claim that they stand behind their products is not true. Home Depot is no better they can’t even agree on any procedure everyone you speak with tells you something else. From customer Service to management even different Managers tell you different things. It is a new dryer I expected more from both Companies. The part that needs replaced is a major component of the dryer not even able to use it until it’s fixed either."

"I purchased a "commercial grade' front loader Maytag washer, you know the commercial about the lonely repairman?, well, he isn't so lonely........ I have had this washer 20 months, and it's no longer working.... the "10 year warrantee, was only on 2 parts that do not normally go bad/need work, not the whole washer, in the "fine print". so the one year manufacture warrantee is expired, i have a repairman<;;;;; whirlpool/Maytag required service co, come out. I explained when requesting service, it had no power/wouldn't come on. i checked power to the washer and it was fine. The repairman arrives, looks at it, other than removing back, nothing else, he said cant do diagnostic since will have to replace the board/and or control panel. charged me 106 for service call... Estimate to replace parts/service and labor- $700, more than i paid for the whole washer. Whatever happened to a company backing its products for more than a year???? especially when its "commercial grade, 10 year warrantied on advertising" and company name supposed to mean dependable and long lasting?????????? And what's the idea of have to replace major electronic parts just to diagnose? apparently that is the problem and they should have had the parts available on arrival (and at better cost) NEVER GOING TO BUY WHIRLPOOL AGAIN. it appears the companies today are definitely NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS, MAKING THROW AWAY ITEMS LIKE THIS. If they aren't throwaway why make replacements parts so expensive? And in the current covid crisis with people out of work, loss income, RIDICULO"

"Maytag washer almost 4 years started acting up. At the end of the wash the door would stay locked and it sounded like the machine was continuing to pump although there was no water being pumped out and I could not see any water inside the machine. Called for repair and used Maytag authorized repair company. They said it was the water pump so we spent $278 on the repair.
Exactly 1 month later it started doing the same thing. Again we called repair and this time were told we probably needed a $300 pressure switch although he could not find debris in places where they would normally find when a pressure switch was needed. I asked if this repair was guaranteed to fix the problem and I was told NO. While we were deciding what to do the Machine started turning itself on. I was alone in the house and heard noises coming from the laundry room. The machine had turned itself on and was making a noise and blinking an error code. I unplugged the machine and the display stayed on.
We realized the cost of repairs would far exceed the cost of a new washer and decided it was cheaper to purchase a new machine. At the appliance store when told them what was going on, they said it sounded like the machine needed a new master controller board. I was talking to a friend and her sister had the exact same experience with a Maytag washer and it was some main circuit panel that would have cost over $600 with only a 1 year warranty on the part.
So we are throwing out a machine that is less than 4 years old, sure as heck not going to purchase anything with the Maytag brand................SHAME ON MAYTAG, money doesn't grow on trees......"

"Have a Neptune dryer. After a couple of years of use, the dryer posted 88 error code. Turns out this is a known problem with the design.

Bought a refurbished controller board. The defective board had 4 resistors that had literally browned the circuit board and caused a crack in one of the traces. The heat from these resistors caused the failure. Whoever designed the board, and accelerated life tested the board should improve their skills. This sort of failure is incompetent at best."

Only the worst washer ever. Lasted 4 years. I had a Maytag washer before this that lasted 30 years. Where is the Maytag man now?
Incredibly Noisy with very low water level; Cannot just set to spin or other functions. Now it grinds and leaks.A miserable product. I wonder how it got or stays on the market."

"I loved my last Maytag top loading washing machine - it was big, robust, did a great clean.
Now unfortunately they have removed all those things that were great about top loaders so now I can't stand it.
1) with the new lid locking mechanism, gone is the ability to throw in that sock you dropped on the floor (you have to wait endlessly for the lock to unlock again even if the cycle has not yet started)
2) the automatic water level sensor means that with bulky or stiff items (eg a door mat) half the item doesn't even get wet, let alone wash.
3) most washes use so little water that the detergent is left staining the clothes, even with the extra rinse option permanently on.
